Guys Recently i purchased a dvd-burner (Sony dru-510a) and just starting to back-up some of my movies. I want to know how come it take 30 mins to read into my HD and it only take 10 mins to write to my dvd media???? Is there some setting i need to change???? All together it takes around 40 mins for a complete back-up of my movies and i was told it can be done in 15 mins!!! This is what i got in my system.... Dvd-burner (Sony dru-510a) 8G HD 900 Mhz Duron CPU 325M RAM My HD is on IDE 1....and the dvd-burner & cd-writer is on IDE 2.
ozrookie, There is nothing wrong with those times. Im pretty sure thats the fastest burn time I've seen. I can burn 4.36 gig to 4X media in about 14 minutes using Nero 6 and a Pioneer A-06. There is no way you can rip and burn a DVD in 15 minutes. Maybe you could do something about your rip time though, what programs are you using? My rips take about 15 to 20 minutes or longer, although I spend that much time re-authoring. Frank
Hi ozrookie, In your computer specs you show 8gig Hd. That could be part of the problem. You need almost that much for a complete backup. If your system is also on that drive it may be having a hard time finding room to rip to. I started thinking I could do it with 7gig of space, but ending up installing a 80gig new HD. Size and type of movie will also effect rip time. Jerry
