David, In the order presented - You say after you burned the DVD movie, tried it elsewhere and then back in the writer it didn't work, same with your music ? About right - It sounds like you never finished your burn jobs, sealed them so-to-speak. Next - plenty of good programs for writing DVD’s, Roxio isn't one. Most would tell you to lose it - I say at least turn it off in msconfig, that will cut down almost all of the Roxio caused problems. Next - Either +R or -R are the best for that job and can be played by your standalone players (if the mfg. spec. sheet says they are compatible) Always check your standalone's recommendations for type of media. IMPORTANT !! Always buy Name Brand media, the cheap isn't cheap if it doesn't work, and many times it doesn't. Next - Nero's CD MiniDVD is excellent for putting movies on a CD not a DVD. It sounds like you have no idea on how to even setup Nero - there is a link to a Nero Guide below, use it Nero is an excellent program for DVD’s and music CDs. For movies - DVDShrink it likes Nero, they make a great pair. For all your other question read what I have written and the attached guides - Pete A Great Nero, step-by-step guide can be downloaded from – http://www.dvdshrink.info/nero-video.php Shrink download - http://www.softpedia.com/public/scripts/downloadhero/3-7-52/ Guide - http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/dvd_shrink_3.htm
Hi guys, A quick Google look at the Toshiba player indicates that its not compatible with -R media. My 2 cents, Frank
I would delete anything that said Roxio, too much conflict with other recording programs. In Nero, look to the left and make sure to select DVD in the drop down menu. I have the same media you have and have not burned a coaster yet. BTW, you listed all kinds of system specs, but nothing about your CPU, lol.
Dsn, Here is, my Nero guide, use it to check your settings - Before I start, I create a folder with my movie’s name somewhere on my HD where I can find it later (i.e. C:/ DVD Work/Pirates of the Caribbean). Do not use Nero Wizard. When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the “New Compilation” window. Directly under the title “New Compilation” is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on the DVD Video Icon. Then click “New” in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen. You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder, the one you made in the beginning, holding your work and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the “Shift” key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left. Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click “OK” and now ? “Burn you sweet thing, Burn!” Pete
