Hi, I helped my friend softmod an xbox and it was in a semi-working state when I left. He was having trouble with the Xbox dashboard, but games would play fine if you booted with a disk in. he didn't seem to mind, so we left it that way. my other friend has similar problems, probably some corruption of the ms dash, i'm guessing? but now the soft mod seems to have died. after a while of using it, now he's getting the service required message. it boots to the xbox splash logo first, so i'm guessing a few gears are turning, but something in the boot process must be fragged. anybody have a solution for this situation? I could pull out the drive, but I wouldn't mind an alternative approach, if there is one...
I don't get an error code as such. It shows the beginning animation and then goes directly to the screen that says Service Required in multiple languages. If there is some error number, I haven't seen it. It does not boot to the dashboard, and does not boot a game when one is in the drive, otherwise i'd just run through the softmod install again...
I dont know how to help you in this case. I only think that you can do the hotswap. But the xbox dont even boot games. Well you can ask azzidrain, he knows more. Look for him on this forum his stickied thread.
doesnt it say the error code on the top left screen. does the xbox still work when u turn it on with a game inside if so, try and softmod it again. insert splinter cell or which ever game u used to modd the xbox. hopefully u still have the linux on you hd. i havent seen an error screen without the code. u ca use xboxhdm_1.9 to fix your hd but make sure u have the eeprom. hope that helps
