Softmod gone bad - is Hot Swapping my only option?

    Hi All,
Picked up what I thought was a 2nd hand XBox for 20 bucks in Game Stop for a mate but when I got home I realised it was a brand spanking new one! Sweet.
Anyhoo, I went to mod it with SID using Splinter Cell (which I've successfully done a few times on other Boxes). I thought I'd read somewhere that new consoles had a fix to the softmod but I figured I'd give it a lash anyway and it would either work or it wouldn't. Anyway when I loaded up Splinter Cell and hit the "Linux" game save, I got the evolution-X logo for a second but then the screen went black and the eject button flashed green, red, and orange. I left it for a few seconds but nothing was happening so I restarted.
Now I get the XBox green "X" screen and the console seems to freeze. If I leave it for a while it eventually loads the MS dash but it won't load any games (gives an error that the game is dirty).
So, is a hot swap my only option? I'm a little worried about electrocuting myself so if there's another option, I'd really appreciate any help/advice.
    Thanks very much for reading!
    Chucky

Try to delete the old gamesave first . And get another . And what is the xboxes version ? If its a 1.6 they can be a pain in the rearend . Hope this helps . if not then post a reply .

Are you sure the fan in the system is running? Sounds like its overheating (common with MS consoles)
