Okay. . . I had a softmod running fine on my system for well over a year. Today, I get a "new" game - that Clone Wars/Tetris combo game. I put it in and it says "UPDATING XBOX LIVE" or something to that effect. Now, when I start my XBox (Xecuter 2 chipped), it drops right to the standard MS dash instead of going to the custom dash. I tried booting the system with the DVD door open - still goes right to the MS dash. I have lots of info on the 80+ gig hard drive (mostly on the F drive) and don't want to lose any of that. I would also prefer to keep the stuff on the C drive. Tried FTPing with my PC and, as I thought, it no longer works. How can I restore the C drive I made a backup of when I did the softmod? Is there a disc that a chipped XBox can run to give you access to the files on the drives and repair what needs to be repaired? I suspect doing the Splinter Cell exploit from scratch will just format the whole thing. TIA!
you can A. Use the game you softmodded with and get your unleashX or EvoX dash back or B. Use an autoinstaller and get the files from there the choice is yours
I did boot from Splinter Cell (the exact same original copy I did the softmod with) and it no longer has the LINUX named load game option.
K. Got that figured out (drag/drop from desktop). Now, I put the Linux Installer and the Linux profile on the XBox HD. I still can't get it to boot to Evox or ANY non MS dashboard I had on there. I CAN reinstall the softmod but I'm afraid that will wipe my F partition with all my good stuff on it. Will reinstalling the softmod from scratch like that format the entire HD?
Well, Slayer's 2.6 was all I could get to boot but I installed that dash and it saved my bacon. Thanx, all!
