Does anyone see anything wrong with copying a working modded HD and putting it, the copy, in a different version xbox (eg. 1.6 to a 1.1)and I know I would have to put the corresponding xbox's eeprom, but other than that?

I've already done it once successfully but that was to an xbox with the same version.

As long as the eeproms match, you should be golden.

    hey thnx
the reason I asked is because i did it once and and the HD got all screwed up and I couldn't access it all not even in linux. I just wanted to make sure their were no compatibility issues before I tried it again on a new HD.

Hey I read what I suppose you would call an incomplete tutorial on softmodding w/the SID Mechassult v2.0.Xbox-hq. The tutorial said to "run linux", then back up my c drive, then install the softmod, then install the dashboard. So I did. Then I find out(after installing emulators, and downloading an xbox game to my hard drive) that in ordr to access your ms dash, you have to run a patch msdash 5960 and then reinstall the softmod and evolutionx dash, and backup my modded c drive. Is it too late to go back and do these things? the original tutorial also didn't say anything about backing up your eeprom. Can I still do that? Btw I got the info about the patch and so on from DJB's tutorial "Softmod Installer Deluxe v2.0" on Xbox hq.

In my case, i was able copy, paste the files from drive c: and drive e: without problem. And im doing it for my xbox's friends. I have download a save game exploit from Agent Under Fire and use the action replay to put it in the hardrive, When i put the game load mission from the hardrive, the screen goes black and start the page that give you the backup, install softmod, install evox, install unleashX.

When that page is load, is like running in ms-dos in a computer, you can access the drives of the xbox because no other program is running. Make sure that you have the originals copy files in your computer and access it thru any ftp program like (Flash FXP) and copy, paste those files into the xbox hardrive and when you restart the xbox, you gonna have the settings and dashboard from the original backup modded xbox.

Hey just so you all know... you cannot copy a working softmod HD from one version to another even if you get the epprom right.
So know my question is how do you take an xbox HD and convert it back so a pc will detect it and be able to format it, or just use it in general?
