Can any one advise how to download software for samsung VP=D351 mini video camera to transfer film to my PC (windows XP ) as I didnt receive a disc when I bought the camera . thanx neilly
You don't need to download software, you can just connect it to a Firewire port and transfer with Windows MovieMaker included in XP.
Thanx for the info .Very much appreciated , I'll give it a go . I'm a complete novice at digi photography .Neilly
I am getting following error message despite the firewire attached and no DV on screen of Video camera. Any ideas please ? I have just bought DV Camcorder so its all new to me. A video capture device is not detected. Check.... This is when I go to File then Capture Video. Should I be doing this? Thanks tonypp
You question is somewhat unclear. Please tell exactly what you do, what programs you use and then what happens... Did you turn on your camcorder when you coonected to your PC?
thanks for replying so promptly I use Windows movie maker on a dell inpiron 510-just bought it and camcorder is on. When I go to file then capture video , the error mesaage appears. I hope to burn onto cd-r or is it a DVD?? regards tonypp
Firts step is to check if your cam is recognized by your system. Connect your cam and turn it to VCR-mode. next open the Manager and check if the camcorder shows up there. If not, you have a bad connection (Firwire card not properly mounted, bad cable, cable not plugged in properly). If it is visible, try one of the freeware capture programs listed here: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com and see if you can capture with one of those.
Im still trying to get going. All I have in My Computer is C drive and dvd/cd Drives No mention Of ieee1394/Firewire . Do I need to set anything up. I am on my third Firewire !! 1394 network connection says itis connected. Any checks anyone can give me? Dell say its all ready to go
Sansung have just phoned . they are taking Camcorder away for testing to see if it is faulty. That just leaves the firewire card. Is there a test for this?
from your reply I gather you did not check the Device Manager to see if the Firewire card is installed. Do as follows: right click "My computer", select "Properties", select the "Hardware" tab, click the button "Device Manager". In the list you should now see a category called "IEEE1394 Bus Host Contollers". In that category you should see the card, something like " XXX OHCI compliant IEEE1394 Host Controller" where XXX can be some brand name.
Returned by Samsung still same error message. When I open up My computer only the following Files C drive dvd/cd-rw drive Can get 1eee1394 in System Info How should ieee 1394 in Network place be set up ? All 3 are ticked (Client Microsoft network,File & printer sharing & Internet Prococol) Should they be firewalled? Any ideas
