SOFTWARE NOT DETECTING INTERNET CONNECTION

    hi all

    All day yesterday i spent fixin a friends PC. I installed everythingfine and all

    everything from office antivirus programs and all.

    She wanted a program which i had which i installed and again simillarly its an older version so after installin i did the ussuall go and update it but every time i clicked check for updates the program did not detect an internet connection???

    btw she uses dial up...

    can anyone help me do i go to any settings in windows or anything??

    The program it self does not have settings to config.

    maybe the modem's bad?? Can you get on the internet at all?

    what windows version & did you setup the internet for dialup??

    the nortonns internet security is activated and the connection was already setup dial up soou reckon i should disable the firewall??

    either disable the firewall or configure the firewall to allow the modem to access the net
