I have tried several software packages, and can't find one that does preview on the computer accurately or completely. This may not be the correct forum to ask this question, but maybe someone here has preview experience.

I have a Canopus ADVC50, which works wonderfully well while capturing video from my VHS. I transposed all my home movies, and they came out easily as good as the source. However, now I wish to use my Canopus ADVC for watching TV from the VHS machine. No, I'm not too cheap to buy a TV Tuner card, but the last one I bought had serious compatibility issues, drivers caused the computer to crash, etc. Also, my computer is installed inside this desk thing which will require hours to take apart and install the Tuner card, then re-assemble. I know, boo-hoo, boo-hoo.

If I could get software that would render the DV correctly for preview mode, then I could watch the VHS output, using it as my tuner.

I have tried WinDV and WinDVR 3, but something was wrong with their preview modes for the DV input. The closest I came to something working is to use a version of AMCAP which I downloaded (free) from the internet. It uses filter graphs, but the audio and video are not rendered synchronously, and I couldn't construct a filter graph with a video delay.

Any experience or ideas would be helpful to me. Thanks.

Thanks Minion. It works quite well. There's a small amount of breakup during fast video moves, but unless you're really picky, you'll never notice. It's ceartinly good enough for me!

I think I'll try the capture and see how that works. If that works as well, I'll switch from Amcap and send them their $20.

    Thanks again!
