solar powered batteries?

    is it possible to charge rechargable batteries with solar cells?

    Yes This is how all solar cars work and most solar devices.

    What you need is the bateries
    A solar cell
    and Most important you need to connect the solar panel to the battery or pack using a diode. The diode will conduct current in only one direction, and only when the cathode voltage is positive relative to the anode voltage by a specified amount. This is needed as solar cells can drain the battery when not being excited with sun or a desk lamp.

    Diodes can be purchased at radio shack or equivalent for less than a dollar.
