This is a new one to me, but from numerous forum searches I see it isn't a new problem to you guys so I hope someone can help. Nero was working fine for me before this, I was burning disks (CDs and DVDs) no problem and then suddenly this error appears every time. My discs get to 7% and then BAM... DMA-Error, CRC Error. Oddly, I did get one of my drives to work running at x4 speed - it burned an audio CD - (took forever, but got 'stuck' at 100% and didn't end). I see the common protocol is to post a Nero log so I shall do the same and hope it sheds some light on the problem! ((P.S. I know this reports my DMA as 'off' for my two optical drives but at startup the BIOS reads that the LITE-ON drive is in UDMA4 and the NEC drive is in UDMA2.)) Not sure if this is of any help (or a good move since it didn't change anything!) But I updated my RAID drivers and the log reads that the DMA is now on and the drives are connected via atapi not JRAID. The device manager is now reading the drives as in UDMA Mode 4 and 2 respectively when previously it said "not applicable". Something has changed but oddly had no effect on the Nero error. Seems my harddrive and optical drives switched ports too... the harddrive is now on port 4 while the optical drives are on port 1. Is this significant? Thanks to anyone who might have read my problem, even if you weren't able to offer an answer. I found a solution through Yahoo Answers; someone suggested I replaced the IDE cable and it now works as it did before - can only assume there was some sort of failure with the cable. So if anyone else with a similar problem reads this then I suggest switching out the IDE cable with a new one (or an old spare you might have lying around - like I did) before taking any drastic measures like replacing the drive.
