I disabled all my audio codecs, and when I tried to play one DivX movie, lo & behold I got the missing codec 85 error appearing. I re-enabled my Fraunhofer IIS MP3 codec, and that DivX movie played fine, with full audio. However, selecting other DivX movies to play, I am still getting the missing codec 85 error. Some DivX movies will play fine, others won't. Could this be the DivX version these videos were encoded under, and why doesn't my PC detect that a suitable codec exists for some, but not others? Using different media players doesn't seem to help either. I'm sure at some point, I've been able to play all my DivX movies, but despite having different MP3 codecs installed, I am continuing to have problems. Can anyone suggest what might be going on?
Should be decoded via a native dshow decoder not an ACM wrapper. So you might want to try re-registering the windows default one or installing another filter (ffdshow, mpadecfilter, etc.). Why is it that DivX uses decimal, when everything else uses hex (85 instead of 0x0055)?
