My interet provider claims that i should be recieving a speed of 56k, yet I'm only getting a speed half that (28k) WHAT SHOULD I DO???
Phone you ISP and complain, There may be nothing that they can do, if so you could try using a different ISP. But phoning them is the best optio i had a similar problem when i had a dailup isp a while ago.
you need to call your telephone company. Where do you live. Where I am they are offering DSL 768K / 128k FOR $15 A MONTH with one year payment upfront. That is probably about what you are paying for dial up. I was getting the speeds you were on my dial up, when I swithched to DSL a man came out before I received may dsl modem. He said he had to get the service ready, he climbede the pole out front. After he left I used my dial up and it connected at 49K , the next day I got my DSL kit. I do a lot of ressidental pc repairs, I have never seen dial up get exactly 56k,the closest was 50k.
