im running on ati radeon HD4670 graphics card, with 2 kingston 2gig mems, 1tera seagate HDD, 700w supply, on a biostar TA890gxb HD board.... the problem im having is when i play games like mafia II on max video setting the game hangs at any random time but when i play it in a lower setting it still hangs but i can play the game longer before it do...the thing with mafia 2 is i need physx(comes with the game, thats for nvidia graphics card right?) installed to play it so i thought maybe the game was just no compatible with my machine....then i tried other games like prototype resident evil 5, modern warfare 2, cysis 2, etc. just to try it out...still the same thing...hangs at any random time.... now i think its my Graphics card, then i tried to remove my graphics card and used the on-board card ati radeon 4270(notsure)HD...still samething..sigh now what am i supose to do? ive tried re-installing my OS (windows 7 ultimate) still same thing... pls. somebody help me.... do you think i should try a new graphics card? and i should do so what would be best card i can use with my motherboard? (ati cards) thanks i hope somebody can help me out... P.S. sorry its kinda long
If you're saying the same thing happens with on board graphics card and dedicated graphics card then it look's like it might be the motherboard or other component rather than graphics. When you tried the onboard graphics did you physically remove the other graphics card? If not try that too and see if it still happens. Also, try it the other way round, so install the HD4670 and go into the bios and disable the onboard graphics so windows doesn't see it and then check if problem is still there. Firstly, update the bios on your motherboard (Please check this is correct bios for your board! ver. 6.x board): Then update the chipset driver: Also test with just one stick of ram in the board at a time, also test each stick with each slot. Does it happen with a particular stick or a particular slot? If so, ram problem. Is anything overclocked in the system? The cpu or gpu? If so put them back to stock settings and check. Since games last longer before crashing on lower settings, it sounds like it could possibly be caused by something overheating or a faulty component.
thanks for the info...im gonna try it and update on what happens, than you for your time... oh i forgot to ask...can i turn off hybrid xfire? because under dxdiag display approx memory is 2425mb...thats with hybrid right? card 1000mb x2(because of 4gig ram)+512 onboard...is this correct? do you think the hybrid xfire can be the cause of the problem?
