    Hi,

I have 3 avi files I want to put on a single DVD, the total size of them is about 600mb. I am using Sonic My DVD as I want to create a menu, everything works fine until I add the 3 files and then the box showing the size available on the dvd shows -3000 mb which basically means that the movie I am trying to create is nearly 8 gb, how can this be?? Any help??

That means it's telling you the output will be that size after encoding to DVD compliant MPEG-2. If you want to make an actual DVD-Video disc (ie plays on a normal standalone player) those files have to be re-encoded. MPEG-2 isn't as compressed as whatever codec the AVI files are encoded with now is (most likely either Divx or Xvid) so the size is much bigger.

It doesn"t matter How big your AVI files are what matters is How long your Files are and in Standard DVD Format useing Sonic MyDVD you will probably only get about 2 hours on a DVD so if your Files all together are over 2 hours then they will not Fit on to DVD after they have been encoded to DVD Format, well not useing Sonic MyDVD because I believe it only supports the Full D1 DVD Format and none of the others that allow for more Video on a DVD.......

    Cheers
