Ok, I've downloaded and installed Sonic MyDVD Studio deluxe 6.1 and authored and burned my first DVD which plays ok on my 2 cheap DVD players (Tangent/Eltax).

No big surprises there because they'd both play a beer mat if it had video data on it. The problem is that I tried the DVD in my brothers Mustek DVD player and it recognises it as a DVD but won't play it.

So I put the DVD back in my PC and tried to read it with DVDShrink and it says it has got an invalid DVD navigation structure so it can't read it.

Any ideas how I can get round this because I want to author DVDs which will play in most other DVD players.

NeroVision Express makes DVDs with the correct structure but the menus aren't as good. This is why I'd like to use Sonic MyDVD 6.1 instead.

Any ideas if there are any settings which can be adjusted in MyDVD to overcome this problem ?

I posted this in another forum on afterdawn but I think this one is the right one to post to really

It's been my experience that only certain brands of rewritable +R media has any chance of working in a player that is not specifically designed for dvd r or rewritables.

For instance, I bought some office depot brand 4x +R, won't play in my older Toshiba, play fine in my brand new panasonic 5 disk jukebox made for rewritables. TDK +R 8x media plays fine in the same older Toshiba player. TDK -R 8x media won't play in the Toshiba either.

So...stick with 8x and perhaps try the TDK.

I have my DVD6 as well and I also think that perhaps the quality setting may have some bearing. I leave mine in the middle which is default. You might also try one other thing, disconnect your computer from the internet and shut down all your firewalls and antivirus, I've found that a lot more projects fail if I leave that stuff running than if I shut them down, the program is also kind of sensitive to errors on your hard drive so a thorough disk error check is another thought.

hope something here helped you out.

I wonder if that would also work for DVDLab Pro? I may have to try that.

I mean the DVDs seem to create ok and play in either of my 2 DVD players but won't play on other players and I've found that this is because the menu structure MyDVD creates doesn't seem to be setup correctly. In fact if I try to read the disk using DVDShrink, it tells me this.

If I burn the same DVD files in NeroVision, it works fine but the menus aren't as good.

There must be a setting in MyDVD Studio so that it burns DVDs which can be played in most players.

It's ok burning DVDs in MyDVD and I can play them on my DVD players but what if I want to lend a DVD to someone else ? (it won't play)
