Lately, when burning DVDs on my new sony burner the light will blink on the drive til the burning process gets to about 10 percent then it will stop til the process gets to 100,when i get an error. Sometimes the disc comes out a coaster, other times blank. When i restart the computer and try again it burns successful. This started happening only recently. I don't mind restarting my PC when i want to burn a DVD,but i should not have to. The DVDs i am using are 8x TDK DVD-Rs,but i have had good luck with them in the past.I burn at 4x to be safe, but nothing has changed in the way i burn the DVDs.Anyone have a clue what may be happening? Thanks.

What model is the exact model of your sony burner?? are you using nero to burn the DVD'S if so you could post relevant sections of the log which give us information so we can help you solve the problem, well to start Ill recommend you to check for a firmware update for your drive, flash it and tell me how you do.

Check and make sure your DMA settings for your drive are correct.

From Scuba Pete's Guide at http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide1.html

If your DMA is correct try the option of uninstalling your burner and letting Windows reinstall it.

Everything is set to DMA if available. As far as reinstalling it,I did thye same thing to my old burner and it never recognized it again. In the place of where it was,the computer now says it is a Vorbid InstantDrive, although its not in the PC anymore.
