Just picked up a 50 pack of Sony CD-R (48X...80min. 700MB) on Sale for $12.97, @ Wal-mart. Was going to get Maxell, but Sony's were cheaper. Came out to $14.00 w tax.......just giving a heads up. Was reading the package & says these disks are made in Taiwan.
Those discs are great with the once exception that their maximum burn speed is 32x in my BenQ DW1640.
I picked up the Maxell CD-R's from Sams Club and they are MIJ and code as Taiyo Yuden. Burn beautifully.
Those maxell TYs only burn at 24x (max) in my DW1640 for some lame reason.. Though, my fuji TYs burn at 48x (max)... Just every CD info program I have says those Maxell TYs won't burn faster than 24x.. It's so depressing. three things: yes, I'm under-to-date on programs and firmware yes, I'm DMA'ed and yes, I know that not everyone burns at max speed (so spare me from letting me know you don't burn at max.)
I have 2 Plex 716a drives and they do not allow burning at 24x, for whatever reason. You can do 16x then you jump to 32x and 48x. I had no problem at 32x with the Maxells.
What about "17. March 2006" makes you think people still follow this thread or even care? Five months, bro. If you're going to pad, atleaste use a thread that people are still talking in.
I totally agree Ive always been burning with sony cdr's and never had any problems even when burning at max speed. On the otherside maxell, memorex bought from wal mart gave me nothing but problems.
