walmart sold spools of 50 for $9.99 X-mas of 2003... works fine for me just disappointed with the color variety.. i can use the pink discs to burn music that become coasters to play in my car.. and burn for friends ..
Sony is my favorite CDR but more expensive. Nice, smooth matte finish for writing and perfectly smooth edges (no glue blobs). I think mine were made by Ritek. Why would you say they are cheap? They are thinner now than before because they are rated for burning at higher speeds. Verbatims are also recommended but they are made by CMC Mag.
