When I bought my Sony CD burner, I received a Sony Connect Cash Card redeemable for 10 free downloads from connect.com. Should I worry about Sony installing malware into my system along with their proprietary download software? I would love to get 10 free songs but not at the expense of a crashed computer!

I doubt it will install spywayre/adware/malware, but I can guarantee you that the song files will have DRM (copy protection) on them meaning that you can only play them on your computer, and can't burn them to a CD or put them on a portable player. they probably require their own software to play, depending on what format the website uses. In my opinion, its not worth going through all that just to get 10 songs. Its much better to do it the easy way...p2p like SoulSeek, Bit Torrents, or IRC.

The hell with that then - what's the point if I can't put it on CD!
