I bought this unit new about 2 1/2 years ago. Only used it 5 or 6 times. I charged it and went to try taping. Problem is, there is NO picture visable in either the viewfinder OR LCD screen. Just "gray". It will record sound but NOT any picture. Plugged it back in for 1/2 hour to charge more, then worked OK for about 5 minutes then back to no picture again. It plays BACK on all my old tapes just fine if plugged into house power. I have a hunch my battery is DEAD from neglect & age? Anyone have an opinion on this? I see aftermarket batteries for only about $20.00 but worry my camcorder itself possibly has worse problems? Any ideas appreciated! Mike
When all else fails (and NOBODY responds....), I contacted Sony. Turns out the camera and a BUNCH of other Sony Camera's are crap and part of a Class Action Suit. Guess we'll see if I get the problem fixed without too much hassle now..... :-( INFO at: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=118&mdl=DCRTRV22 And: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INT...art?page=/static/legalNotice/legalNotice#list
Hi pappy, have you had any luck with your sony, i have just realised the same problem damn annoying. are sony resolving the fault? I would appreciate any info. Thanks
For anyone in the uk with this same sony camcorder fault, this link will get you free repair. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArti...ection=3&article=1128075116465&site=odw_en_GB
I went to: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=118&mdl=DCRTRV22 They sent me a free UPS sticker to download and I shipped it back to them for repair. SO FAR.....the wife's Sony still camera (digital) which is also in the lawsuit is working OK. As a result, they wil NOT fix it unless it fails.....Sure makes us a NON Sony fan from now on. While it's nice to get the new Camcorder fixed, it is NOT nice that it is only being done after Sony lost a class action law suit! Everything we have from computers, TV's etc is Sony. We will be weeding Sony OUT of our life as time and attrition allow.....
