sony dv dcr-hc85e

    I am trying to download my footage via fire wire to my hard disk but my computer does not recognise the camcorder. I have been using this before without any problem. I tried different computer with different fire wire cable and fire wire card no joy.
    Device manger shows "VIA OHCI complient IEEE 1394 Host Controller".
    System is WinXP pro.

    Any idea please?

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the link. The board I am using has also got VIA chip. I have been to VIA site but was unable to find any reference to FIRE WIRE. Will also investigate if my camcorder has got the facility to switch on/off the Fire Wire port.

    Apart from this I am stuck as the others in your provided link.
