I've noticed recently that I'm unable (or seem to be unable) to copy Sony DVD's using CloneDVD. Other discs seem to be problem free, but with the Sony ones after entering the cloning mode, where the movie is usually previewed, I get a blank screen with the message: IFO Properties 6. Cloning is not possible. Is there a way around this?
To clarify. The message only says 'IFO Properties 6'. There is no mention of not being able to clone the DVD. Looking elsewhere on here, I see that other people apparently have no problem cloning Sony discs (Spiderman 3 for example).
CloneDVD by itself won't be sufficient. You could have bought AnyDVD bundled from Slysoft along with CloneDVD but you already have CloneDVD so could try AnyDVD on a 21day trial before buying, or there's free (permanently free) & paid versions of DVDFab HD Decrypter here - http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm (both are frequently updated). Basically the newer encryptions need help from other programs... you can still use CloneDVD, you just need something else to deal with the copy protection before using CloneDVD..
Thanks for that, but I am already using AnyDVD with CloneDVD. Either way, from what you're saying, I basically need to update the software?
Oh so you have got AnyDVD then.. yes, you should always go looking for updates once you hit problems. Programs such as these are only any good if they get updated/keep being updated by the authors...
Well DVDFab certainly solved the problem Creaky, so many thanks for that suggestion. My happiness was shortlived however when I went to write the DVD using CloneDVD, it was aborted with a message informing me that the file was too big. My next question then is (obviously), how do I shrink the file? Isn't CloneDVD supposed to do that?
The thing is Creaky, I tried using CloneDVD, but it aborted because the file was apparently too large. Is there something that I need to do with CloneDVD to shrink the file?
yes cloneDVD does shrink the file(capable of that), i don't use that program so i cant help you specifically, maybe you need to look for the option to shrink(transcode) and not pick the burn option or just wait for another member who uses that program to point you in the right direction. edit ok was just lookin at some guide for CloneDVD2 what option did you choose? it depends on if you want a full disc backup or just a main movie backup(no menus) for the full backup select CLONE DVD, then browse and select the folder ripped by DVDFab then continue as usual for a movie only select COPY DVD TITLES, then browse and select the ripped folder and continue as usual hope this helps
I am relatively new to this, but i use dvdFab to rip, DVDshrink to shrink, and IMGBurn to burn. It has worked very well for me and i have burned sony and disney with no problems.
Hey icandoit you might consider to add to your armametaria VobBlanker(its free) to help edit out unwanted things in your backups. Also your method is the same one I use except for the VobBlanker use after Fab and before Shrink. BTW add fixvts after fab to help in dvd structure cleanup to allow the backup to play flawlessly on a stand alone player
