sony dvd+-rw dw-q58a not able to read cds

    I have UYS3 firmware. The drive will not read blank or printed cd's but will read dvd's. It started after I was burning a cd with Nero. It suddenly just failed and popped out the cd and my drive won't recognize any cd's. I was wondering what I should do to fix this problem.

    i have had exactly the same problem. Have you found a solution?

    Sorry to inform you but there is no solution. The cd lens is broken and you need a new drive.

    I have also have had the exact same problem and have read about other people have this same problem and have found no solution are these drives junk or what. Is there a similar drive that I can use for my laptop that will work better I don’t want to buy the same one and have the same problem again.. Thanks for anyone’s help
