I've been using my Sony DVD RW DW-U18A with no problems for a couple of months now with my new system. I've reinstalled WXP once and things have been working fine (few weeks ago).

I've backed up a few (maybe 10) DVDs since reinstall and now my computer sometimes freezes (no response from KB or Mouse) when i put a commercial DVD, blank DVD or even CD into my DVDRW. Sometimes I need to switch off from mains power switch to remedy problem. It doesn't freeze when I put cd into my el-cheapo CD ROM.

What could be causing this? Solutions?

I'm running an Intel P4 3.0Ghz (HT) on an Intel d865PERL motherboard, 1024Mb Ram, 2 x Maxtor 6Y080P0 Hard drives, some cheap model CD-Rom (no prblem with it), Nvidia Geforce5600X 256Mb video card.

Woops . . . just realised i installed an update of Nero OEM 6. Lat time the INCD component caused my CD & DVDRW to run very slowly and this time the problems were even worse as you can see from above.

Uninstalling just the INCD component fixed the problem.
