Sony DWU-14A

    Does anyone have any info on the Sony DWU-14A? Just seen it advertised at £125. Is it a replacement for the DWU10, if so is it a better buy then buying this and upgarding the firmware. The spec seems to be the same as the Sony DRU-510AX. I have not bought a drive yet!

    The Pioneer DVR-a06/106 is always an option too at £128

    I dont have a need for +R myself

    DW-U14A is the OEM version of DRU-510A and the DW-U10A is the OEM version of DRU-500A.

    It's possible to flash a DW-U10A with a hacked DRU-500A(X) firmware update to get [bold]4x DVD+R[/bold] speed but it's [bold]NOT[/bold] possible to flash it with a DW-U14A/DRU-510A firmware to get [bold]4x DVD+RW[/bold], faster CD-RW burning and DVD read speed.
