SONY HANDYCAM DCR-HC19E MISSING "CD-ROM" Can't seem to find it anywhere , need it to get video from cassette onto my PC then onto a CD or DVD. Does anyone have a link to a free download .... CD-ROM INCLUDES 1.USB DRIVER 2."first step guide" 3.Image Mixer VCD2 4.Picture Package Ver 1.5
downloaded that yesterday .. only seems to be a program for updating your pc's drivers and application called sonyhb ? ....????
wonderful Fony.. install the driver, then you need to find a video capture application that actually works with the thing.. we found that nero8 worked with fony camcorders where nothing else did, but it depends on lots of other things... like how your usb com ports are assigned.. we found on nero that the fony cam was coming in on com12
Downloaded the USB driver from Sony and have run and is loaded and can be seen in the control panel ..... but cam still not been seen my my lap top .... no in device manager .... Was looking for CD-ROM which INCLUDES 1.USB DRIVER { got from sony website} 2."first step guide" 3.Image Mixer VCD2 4.Picture Package Ver 1.5
They come with the camera.. and they only contain the driver and a very basic editing tool.. which may have a VERY basic capture function.. but never found one that came with a camera which worked.. As the disk is copyright content an image anywhere (because of the very basic editing thing) can't be linked to... even if it's found. When we do captures from these machines they don't show up in device manager either.. it's a raw video stream.. so you NEED some capture program running. Try a few of these.. http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/free-video-capture.shtml
Looks like it is time to buy software. I don't have time to look, but does that camcorder have a firewire port on it? Is it a miniDV tape camera? If it is a miniDV tape camcorder, the only good captured video that you will get, is by connecting it to your computer via a firewire cable, which did not come with the camcorder. Actually, there is a very good free, capture software you can get. It is called WinDV (not Win DVD). It will work a treat for capturing from your Sony.
The Camcorder is a MiniDV tape recorder, so, you will need a firewire cable and firewire card for your PC. You cannot get the video with USB. Download WinDV (it is free) and it will do the job for you. Then get DVDFlick and it will take the captured file and make a DVD out of it. DVDFlick is free too!
The user guide says usb cable is fine ? and system requirements says nothing about a fire wire card ..
OK start again .....{ TAKING IT I CAN'T GET THE CD-ROM FROM SONY } If i go out and buy a firewire cable {i .link ? } as camcorder has a firewire port {DV OUT}. Do i just download WinDV (not Win DVD). and just connect camcorder to pc ?and load onto my PC ... Then get DVD flick o transfer onto a DVD disc for TV viewing .. cheers.
Will have a go with that .... do i need to download any drivers for the firewire cable ? you mentioned a firewire card ...
With out downloading anything and just connecting camcorder to my PC , should the PC see the camcorder ?
only firewire cable in the 2 shops today only fitted a Mac-laptop The computer end is the wide flat end with an angled tip.... do they come in ones that have a USB head to fit a Dell lap top ?
First, the answer is no. Second, doesn't your laptop have a firewire port on it? How old is the laptop?
