Sony or Pioneer Drive: 16x write dvd-r takes WAY too long!! WHY???

    i used to have a pioneer dvr-a07xla(8x max), but for whatever reason i could only get it to write at 4x... and it took about 45min to burn a full dvd.

    now im using a sony dru-810a(16x max). and when i burned a full dvd at 16x, it still took about 45min to complete. whats going on here? i thought the sony drive would be burning alot faster than it is.
