Here is the info screen from AnyDVD from Sony's release of Underworld:Evolution. All of these protections and only AnyDVD stood in its way.

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 5.9.6.3)
    Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

    Media is a Data DVD.
    Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 2084960 sectors (4072 MBytes)
Total size: 4169920 sectors (8144 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: UNDERWORLD_EVOLUTION
    Media is CSS protected!
    Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

    RCE protection not found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
Found & removed bogus title set!
    Found & removed invalid VOBUs!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Found & removed 5 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

CloneDVD found and corrected IFO format errors (no doubt those were NOT mistakes either)

Drive churned for an extra long time, but in the end.........Guess what was the strongest.......Protection schemes or AnyDVD/CloneDVD2?

LOL The folks at Slysoft have an unbeatable product in AnyDVD... It is truly remarkable!!! The AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 combo didn't even hiccup when I backed up this title. Choosing movie only required no compression.

teflonmyk I always used good ole DVD Shrink until shrink could not do the new stuff. then I used DVDFab and VobBlanker, and they are very very good. I now have AnyDVD and then use Shrink. AnyDVD is one of the best things to come along since bread. It's AWESOME. The people at Slysoft are some very smart people. Keep up the great work Slysoft. We are with you. AD 4 Ever...

yes every one says that about any dvd, my self i use dvd region + css free and i dan make the same claim that i have not run in to any movie that i could not back up , with what i use, i also use shrink, i just make sure to keep my dvd region updated, not to many people use this program, i also backedup Underworld Evolution and like i said had no problems at all with this movie, just thought i would put in my two cents, good luck and happy burning

I'm not so sure about AnyDVD being able to strip away the protection on Underworld: Evolution. I've used both AnyDVD 5.9 (most recent version), and version 6, and neither has been able to remove the protection. Any thoughts? :p

I would not even know where to start figuring out why it worked for me, and not you. I had no problems.

AnyDVD seems to be working just fine. The protection code is now gone, so that isn't the major problem afterall. Its just getting a copy to work with the limited compression from the recoding. Obviously re-authoring is the solution, just a royal pain to have to that. :p

Split the disc to two single layer discs. The main movie easily fits on a single layer disc without any compression at all, if I remember correctly including the menus (using CloneDVD2).
If you want to keep the extras, put them on a second disc.

My backup of this movie was the entire disc, features, movie, everything. Compressed to a single layer DVD with no problems, works great.

i also split this movie into two seperate discs. i didn't want to have any compression on this movie.used main menu and main movie on one disc, and all the extras on another. just got me a double disc case. worked out great.

Man I had a heck of a time with this movie! I used anyDVD and CloneDVD2 and they beat the protections but man this movie sure gave those two a run for their money!!
