Sorry Im new. Whats different between DVD-r and DVD+R?

    Hi Everyone! I just got a new Hewlett Packard computer that came with a inbuilt DVD writer. I also bought some DVD-R's at compusa at the same time. Finally when I began to burn something, it says, ONLY DVD+R discs accepted. Whats different between DVD+R discs and DVD-R discs? Also, is there anyway for my Writer to accept DVD-R discs?
