Did you hit the Audio button on your DVD remote and make sure the AC3 5.1 audio was selected and not the DTS AUDIO? If you have DTS selected and do not have a DTS decoder in your sound system unit then you will not hear sound. Usualy AC3 is the default audio but it could be possible on this DVD that DTS is set as the default audio. Plus make sure this DVD has AC3 5.1 audio on the DVD it could be a DVD with only DTS sound on it.

If you do not have a DTS decoder in your sound system unit then I would unselect the DTS and edit it out of the DVD keeping the other AC3 5.1 channel audio. Some also think that if their DVD player has a DTS decoder that it will read DTS audio. This is true but you will need a sound system that has a DTS decoder to output the sound to the speakers.

I have had that problem in the past as well. Sometimes I attribute it t my cheapest I could find dvd player. All I do is stop the movie and reinsert it. Other times it's because the default audio doesn't exist any more. then I need to select it through the audio menue.
