creative makes an eax advanced hd soundblaster audio card which i recently purchased. i installed this card in my computer and having set up audio cards, video cards, tv tuners, and external sata port cards, i figured this wouldnt give me any problems.

however, i think i may be experiencing a driver problem. as simple as it sounds, it somehow baffles me.

here is my problem: when i click on a video to play ( mpeg format ) vlc is set to open the video. however, once in a while, mind you this problem sometimes does not always occur, my sound card just spits out the most annoying beaps through my speakers. the sound continues and goes on, even if i pause the video; the only way i can stop it is to go into task manager and stop stop the vlc process.

this problem also occurs when i open audio files into winamp (mp3, wma, winamp files...)

...in nero too, and propellerhead reason.

i have tried reseting all of the preferences for opening certain files in certain programs, and it has failed to fix the problem. i have also used the cd to reload the software for the soundcard drivers. still no luck.

once or twice, i get a blue screen and a hard reset is needed. i have no idea how bad that could be to my computer.

    any suggestions ??!?
