Hello, I just joined this forum, and it looks like a wonderful place with lot of helpful people. I received a mail from my internet service provider that spam mails were sent from my internet connection. I have F-Secure antivirus software, and ran a full computer scan. But it didn't show any virus or spyware. Here is the logfile generated by Hijackthis. I would really appreciate your help, in solving this problem. Thanks a lot for your time! did they send you any actual proof? .. like a sample of one of the emails for instance? my email service accused me of similar last month when all I had done was forward a mass mailshot to my contact list.. not spam but legit emails. could you have done something similar? There is also the possibility of somebody connecting to any wireless you have and using it. as for your log.. lots of strange stuff I don't recognise in there.. try malwarebytes on it. *sigh.. M$ system security is a joke*
I have not sent any mass mails recently, so I dont think it could have been legitimate mails. They(ISP) didn't give me any proof. They said my computer seem to be infected with Rustock botnet, and asked me to try Windows malware removal tool at http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx. I ran it, but it did not identify any malicious software. Can you please let me know or suggest how to rectify this problem?
here you go.. http://74.86.201.210/showthread.php?t=167595 btw.. it's not one of mine, I use a different script.
My internet connection got disconnected because of this 2 months ago. F-Secure here, also. And other scanners didnt show up anything. So it's the ISP (TeliaSonera) with strange things in their heads..They did that once before as well, I were using linux on that time.
