Do anyone of you guys know any programs that speeds up computer performance? I have AVG so no virus, I've defraged, disc. clean up and I have ccleaner. Do you suggest anyother programs to bring my computer to normal speed? I don't think I'm even using 40% of my total space. What do you suggest?
Have you checked for ad/spyware? Some of those nasty bastards can slow down performance...download AdAware and run that. If your computer is a few years old, and you've got a lot of crap installed and uninstalled over the years, you can always start over and re-install windows. It is a little inconveniant to have to reinstall all your apps, but it will bring back your perfomance to what it was like when your computer was new...
Couldn't have said it any better than Djscoop and if you chose to go the route of formatting the HDD and do a re-install of your OS, might I suggest that you either partition your HDD and store an image on it of your primary HDD after you've installed all your progs. So when you feel the urge again all you have to do is format that partition and copy the image from the secondary partition to the primary and you are as good as new again. No more bothersome reloading of all your progs like before. If the 40GB is not enough for you to partition then no worries, you can always do an image and back it up on CDs or DVDs. There are several good products for doing partitioning and drive imaging. The Symmantec products eg Partition Magic and Norton's Ghost respectively are popular good products. My personal favourite are however Acronis Partition Expert and Acronis True Image because of their simplicity, ease of use & competitive pricing.

Great. So you have more that enough space to make a mirror image of your internal drive. External drives though reliable for the most part, can cause data loss so backing up on CD/DVD is your best bet.
