Anyone know how to speed up the disc verification process after burning? My i7 will burn a data DVD in about 4 minutes, but then it takes another 14 or 15 minutes to verify the disc.
My 3½ year old dual-core will start off the verification process slow but will usually speed up at some point and do the job in about 6 minutes. If it doesn't speed up I've found if I open IE (for some strange reason) it will give it a boost and speed it up.
Seems kind of strange that the dual core is out performing the i7 by about 8 minutes per disc. Both have new Pioneer disc drives. The dual core a SATA drive and the i7 218L ATA drive.

    It's not the CPU. It's your drive/interface.

Think about the data flow in a verification. The CPUs involvement is minimal. Most of the heavy lifting is getting the data from the optical drive into position to compare it to the source data.
