2 question if i may put to you all

1, My drive maximun dvd copying speed has dropped from 4x to 2x ? is there a reason for this and a way to correct ?

2, My buffer levels have suddenly dropped and are rubbish, used to be both 100% now they stay around the 10-30% this is slowing down the speed ? took 3 hours to backup a DVD today, this is obviously wrong, what can i do please ?

have you tried different media? were you doing any PC intensive activities while burning? If not sounds to me like your DVD burner might be going. I know that with a few of my old CD burners they started buring slower and slower before quitting. How old is your burner? You also might try updating the firmware.

firmware is like the bios update for your motherboard but for the drive. check drive manufacturer for update & proceedure. check in device manager under ide controller properties that the dma is enabled.
