Spider Chip

I have hung around the ps2 section of this site mostly and therefore do not know very much about x-box. My question concerns the spider chip. Is there a specific bios that i have to flash this chip with or does any type work. Also do some version of EvoX have a built in bios which already let you play burned games and all you need to do is flash the chip? Does the EvoX version 1.8.3285 have this feature. Also i am not interested in saving games to my harddrive, is EvoX still needed in this case or do i just need to flash the chip with the proper bios. Thanks and again im sorry if this sounds really stupid but like i said before i dont know much about x-boxes since i have spent most of my time on the ps2 forum.
