Yeah same problem. Spent like 6 hours installing the Spider Modchip 1.0b on a 1.2 XBOX. It all worked, and I was happy up until the flashing point. I used a brand new CD-R/W and put it in with an M8plus.bin (evoX) BIOS, and a dummy file as requested. And put it in to be flashed. The spiderchip picked it up and flashed it, and restarted the xbox. In the top left showed the reddish evoX thing, then it just goes to normal dashboard. After which it's like it was before I did anything. So it seemed like a total waste of time, because now the only difference I get is the evoX logo in the corner. Anyways any help would be great, as it appears i'm not the only one experiencing these problems. Reply ASAP! Thanks
you gotta install a new dashboard...what do you think the xbox will boot to if all you have is the original dash? this stuff just doesn't magically appear, it appears for a reason, you have to install stuff to get your xbox up and running with a mod. try using slayer's autoinstaller...there is a thread in the software forum that has information on where to obtain stuff. one more thing, that was a poor decision to use the m8 bios...the x2 bios is much better...you prolly didn't research good enough, cuz m8 is more for 1.6 xbox's, and the x2 is the best for 1.0-1.5
How was I suppose to know? The spiderchip tutorial said to find a 256kb new BIOS file, and a dummy file, then burn just those two files. I did that. Said nothing about needing any of this stuff. Not my fault. Where can I get this Slayer Autoinstaller. Thanks, keep the replies coming!
Mdsup, can you help me. Step by step. I have no idea what to do dude, please... THANK YOU A LOT IN ADVANCE!
how were you supposed to know? next time you look into a project like this why don't you learn and research before you dive headfirst into the shallow end of a pool. i just told you to go look in the software forum and there is a thread that will tell you how to get stuff for your modded xbox(slayer's, apps, bios, etc...) here is a link that will get you started. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/188138 no i ain't gonna hold your hand...it isn't that difficult, do a little reading and it is a piece of cake.
Someone push you at school today, did they? Calm down RoboCop. I was just asking for a little help, I thought that's what forums were for. Not to throw ignorant remarks at people. I figured you maybe knew something, apparently I was wrong.
first of all buddy, i am not no little kid in fact i am probably much older than you are and i am finished with school, and second, i gave you a link that will answer all your questions...if it don't read through the forums and stop being so damn lazy.
I'm not lazy, and i'm not trying to be mean. I've been working at this for 12 hours, problem after problem has come up, and the majority aren't my fault (like the screw hole for the XBOX and the chip don't line up, they are off by 1-2 mms) and over 12 hours it gets to you. Plus I didn't have the TIME to read through it all. I've been to maybe two-dozen forums so far looking for answers. I was hoping someone could assist. And yes the link does help. I'm going to try to do the evoX dash now I guess, and some Slayer thing. Also i'm out of school, but not 'that' old. Second year Information Technology student. Thanks for the replies so far though, appreciated. No hard feelings.
I think I got it. I FTPed into my XBOX and installed a dashboard of evoX, and it loads up fine. However, I don't think any of the backup of my games work. I did them all on DVD+Rs, probably needs DVD-Rs right? =/ Sigh =/
Another question. I got the dashboard going now, and I believe the BIOS worked earlier (seeing how I got that evo X icon in the top left of the loading, and the dash actually worked) does that mean that I can now play backed up games? Or is there another step i'm missing? Let me know, thank you!
as soon as you flash a hacked bios to the chip you should be able to play backups...you have flashed a hacked bios, so backups should work, as long as your xbox can read them...the best solution is to just get a large hd(250gig) and rip games to the hd, and then play them from the hd.
