Platinum Hits is perfectly fine for Splinter Cell, that's what i've always used. I can't vouch for Mechwarrior or that Bond game that's also used for softmodding
Just a hint if I may, without second guessing my friend Creaky: Yes you can use any version of SPLINTER CELL but the original Splinter Cell. Not splinter cellandora tomorrow or splinter cell:chaos theory. The platinum hits (as Creaky informed previously) does work though. Also must be the store bought disc not a copy, as an unmodded xbox wont read a burned disc...thus the need for the mod, presumably, in the first place. Aizen13 may have already guessed that, there are some that still do not know and ask.
Funny I can't find mine, probably hid it from my kids, but i believe mine is also Platinum, but I have the original Mechassault and 007. ***edit*** found them..and yes also Platinum, I cant say for sure about the classics version.
*update* .. tested this week.. don't have a platinum but the classics "splinetr cell" typo version does not work on a 1.1 or a 1.6b (I paid all of £1 for it just to test XD
never heard of the typo version. I can confirm both mechassault and bond auf need to be the original version and not platinum hits for it to load the exploit. I think it has something to do with the game folder Mechassault is 4d530017 Bond Auf is 4541000d it might be as simple as moving the contents to a platinum hits version game and then loading the exploit. Who knows i don't have either platinum hits so i can't try it.
Well my original version wasn't the typo version. Its number was US01209A-L1 in case anyone is curious.
Finally dropped in at home to double check my Splinter Cell discs. Turns out i have 2 PAL discs, one is standard original ie not Platinum, the other is a 'Classic' disc. However i do indeed have a Platinum disc, it's an NTSC disc that i have tested out once or twice with the one NTSC xbox that i have. edited for spelling
@C4Rn1 .. what a great idea.. I will try that by making saves from the classics game on a chipped one and if there is a difference in folder/file name then renaming the save files before transferring them next time. Think we are on to something. Why didn't I think of that years ago?
