hi all from the cable port on the outside of my house runs another cable running another toom. this spare cable however is not connected to the outside port and wondered if it was possible to connect it so that a feed runs through this spare cable thanks
Then you need to replace the 2-way splitter with a 3-way splitter. Did you use to have all 3 connections connected at one time before? as changing the splitter from a 2-way to a 3-way will lower the power level by 2.5dB coming into the house but I wouldn't think you would have a problem, you can only but try.
i already have a 3 way splitter on the outside - and there are no spaces for another connection- do i need a 4 way splitter? how easy is it to change the connections outside as they look pretty secure thanks
lol, yeah you need a 4 way splitter but you might have power level problems depending how far are you away from the green box.
Its easy to connect they just screw in, just remember the cable feed goes to the In then the 4 cables to the out sockets.
thanks for the help mate the cable runs for about 15 yards - and are the cables relatively easy to disconnect and connect to a new splitter? can the cc detect another connection?
15 yards is nothing but it obviously depends on your position on the tap in the green box as they provide different signal strengths for longer runs, more connections per house etc, you can only try. A easy way to test your signal strength is if you have broadband then enter the below into your browser. http://192.168.100.1/signal.html and see what your downstream power level is. That will give you an idea if adding a 4 way splitter will have any effect on your services.
thanks again mate - one last question - do i need company standard splitter or will any from maplin etc do?
