I need a little help. I want to take a line/quote from a DVD. How do I split the audio and video so that I can edit the audio? What software/tools do I need? Thanks.

Well, you can look for a DVD-ripper from some other site, something like DVDFab Decrypter. Rip the DVD to your hard drive and load the .vob files that you get with a program called Virtual Dub Mod.

After it takes like 10 mins opening the whole movie (if it is the whole movie that opens), locate the part of the movie that you want. Then, hold down the shift key and move the cursor called the Trackbar to the "keyframe" that's closest to where the quote starts, then push Home on the keyboard at that time. Hold shift from that point again until it just passes where the quote end. After it gets to that point, hit End on the keyboard. After you do that, Go to Video and select Fast recompress, then go to Compression and pick any format, the video is unimportant. Go for something small. After you do that, go to File then Save As and save it as quote.avi or whatever.

Next, you'll load into Virtual Dub Mod the file you just created. After that, go to Streams then Stream list. You will have one file in there (if done properly), so you need to pick it and Press Demux. Now you have an AC3 file of your audio! Now you have to figure out how to change the .ac3 file to something you can use. I'm pretty sure there are easier ways of doing this, but this seemed the most pheasable to me to do. The only thing I can't help you with is the re-encoding of an AC3 file to MP3. If you wanted MP3 to begin with, then it's a whole different story.

What exactly are you asking? Do you mean that you want both the audio and video, but you want to edit the audio and put it back into the video clip?

Well, discarding the last few steps of what I said before, get DGMPGDec from this site:
    http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html

Then, after you open the VOB's within it, go to Audio>Track Number, and select the proper audio track that you want (you may need to figure that out when you play the original DVD). After you select that, in Output method, change it to 'Decode AC3 Track to Wave', then go to File>Save Project, let it run, then go to the folder you have the new .wav in.

Now, if you want it turned into an MP3 for easier storage and/or editing support, just get the program CDex from this site and change some of the encoding settings. Go for the LAME MP3 encoder to encode to mp3. After that, you'll have to find out the rest about how to edit it. I'm pretty sure you can figure out the rest. Hope I could be of some help!
