hey everyone. i was just wondering if anyone knew how to split an mp3 (ripped from a professionally done cd like The Offspring and stuff) into seperate tracks, such as vocals, guitar, drums, etc. and if there is some kind of software to do it. Thanks.
no, you can't seperate the different parts of a song like that. They're all embedded together as one stereo track.
is there any way to just cut out the vocals / make them really soft? just for like some karaoke or something
there are ways to do that, but you need expensive software. I can do it through some plugins in Pro Tools, but you're best bet is tweaking it using an equalizer. There are a few free audio editors, like Audacity and Kristal, but I've never tried them, and don't know what their capabilities are. A few inexpensive audio editors are Sound Forge and Adobe Audition.
