Stand alone DVD player picture freezing

    Hi-my stand alone DVD player has started to freeze for a couple of seconds during playback (even new DVDs) then speeds up to catch up, but the audio remains conatant all the time.
    Any Ideas?

    Does it do it with commercial movie disks.

    Hi and thanks for your reply, Yes I brought new DVD for christmas 'Alien' which did it on first play and also one of my older dvd as well, However another new dvd i brought played fine with no issues.

    It sounds like the player is the problem, not the disks.
    You might try one of those 'cleaner disk kits' to see if it helps.
