I did a search, and did'nt find my answer. So i'm posting this, i have a samsung dvd-r135. My stand alone won't play the disc, only my burner will??? I'm sure this is something simple and has been discussed before but i did'nt find anythoing.A quick link to where i need to be and i could fiur this out myself. Thanks in advance,
what format is the disk? +r or -r, is the disk finialised, you might go to dvdhelp.com and search the model number of your dvd player and that will tell you what or what not it will play
Unfortunately, this is a common problem with the Samsung DVD-R standalone DVD recorders. I own a DVDR-120, and another poster owns a DVDR-130, and both will play on certain units, but not on others. I have had the best luck using Sony and Verbatim disks (-R) which will play on more disks than other brands on -R disks. I have a Philips DVD player which doesn't like anything from the Samsung, a Sony will play the Samsung disks, and suprise, a $19.99 Toshiba will play anything I throw at it??? Go figure.
Try Verbatim DVDR- I know it sounds simple but the disc are a big factor why they freeze and Lego I had to reburn about 800 movies I used any brand that was on sale TDK included I found out that for movies only use DVDR's made in Japan or Verbatim or you will make coasters Those other brands are good for music, pictures and data not for movies
This is going to sound like a stupid answer, but it really isn't. Get out the book that came with your DVD player and look in it for the discs it supports. I have found the weirdest things in some of those books. Some computers only support plus or minus discs. Others are pickier than that. They only support certain speed discs. (I have a friend who has one that will not support anything higher than a 4X disc-and that doesn't mean one written at that speed. It will not support a multiple speed disc.) Also some machines will only support certain brand discs. Looking up the book may not solve your problem. However I have seen it solve many of them.
