I'm using eac to rip my audio CD's, my plans are to convert the CD's to mp3's but every time I try it I get wav formats not mp3's. Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong. If you would like to see my settings look at the thread named "new to encording" by me.
have you followed this guide we have here? http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/mydeneaclame.cfm It has step by step instructions on how to setup, configure, and use EAC. There could be a number of issues, such as you do not have EAC directed to the correct mp3 encoder, and make sure you are clicking the mp3 button, not wav button.
Eric, I had the same problem as you and pulled my hair out trying to figure it out.I uninstalled it and did it over step by step, the problem with the first attempt was that the.CGF File was not installed in the profiles file. I did it right and it works just fine. Bob
Yes it is important that the .CGF files are placed in the Profiles folder in the same directory as EAC is installed. This could be the problem and hope you fix it.
[bold]FIGURED IT OUT !!!!!! [/bold] I was almost ready to give up on EAC but then started to look around on the menu and saw the configuration wizard, I ran it and then tried it one more time and BINGO!! all files were made into MP3's [bold]Problem solved, thanks for all your help[/bold]
I'm having this problem but only on a few CDs....I've done maybe 40-50 without a problem and a few CDs folders have only WAV files no mp3 compressed files....Help?
you sure you clicked the mp3 button on the left, not the wav?? has your program files changed at all, or have you moved the lame.exe file?
okay, so let me get this straight: you can rip most of your CDs to mp3 by using EAC and the LAME plugin, but a few only rip to wav? it might be because you are getting read errors, and if EAC can't extract the entire file it will not encode to mp3. but if it does extract the whole mp3, and not convert to mp3 for some reason, just go Tools > compress wavs to encode them
Yes, it does create wav files for the CD Yes I have tried compressing the wav files without any luck but I selected all files as a group, I just tried it by selecting a single file and it worked. Would rather not do this all individually but it's better than nothing. These disks are not scratched so I'm still not sure why they have problems?
Try unistalling EAC and LAME and just start over and reinstall in. Follow that guide above and then try again...
