Can any one help. When I load up my PC I get the following error just before the logon screen: Executing Window/system32/wgalogon.dll The error also appears under my screen name as I'm logging in. This error appeared after I used a system optomizing tool. I tried system restore but got message "your system cannot be restored..." (which I have been getting for quite a while) Please help!!!
Try to go into safe mode and delete the system optimzer program you installed and then reboot and see what happens. If that does not work try doing a repair install of windows.
Thankyou so much for your reply. I already removed the system optimizer program normally last night. In other forums I have been given links on removing WGA, do you know anything about this? Is this aimed at people who do not have a genuine copy of Windows? (My Windows is genuine) If I remove it does that mean I won't be able to use Windows update, because I won't be able to verify that my Windows is genuine? In my Add/Remove programs there is no Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications, although I have WGAlogon entries in the System32 folder. Could it not be installed correctly? Also, when I first load up my PC a black screen comes up (boot screen?) with writing asking if I want to log on to Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows XP (TuneUp backup). From here I can press F8 to access other options. If I do nothing it disappears after a few seconds without me having to make a selection. I have just installed Tune Up Utilities on my PC, so I'm assuming that has something to do with this? Do you know what the TuneUp backup is? Is this problem related? Thankyou so much for your help, I really appreciate it
Ok firstly in regards to your WGA problem. You should keep it if your copy of windows is real. Its good for the windows updates, and plus you can select what updates you want. To remove all the wga stuff from add/remove programs you have to go into that and click a box that saids "Show Updates. It should be listed there. In regards to the Tune Up screen you get when booting up yes its related to the program u installed. To get rid of ot just go again to add/remove programs and uninstall it there. I hope that clears up some stuff Good Luck and keep me posted
Show Updates is always selected in my Add/Remove programs but WGA is not there, that's why I'm confused. Should I download it from microsoft? Will that sort my problem. Is there any way of getting rid of the boot screen without removing TuneUp Utilities because getting rid of it is not an option. Thanks for your help
I would download it from the Microsoft Website. The only way i can think of without having used the program. Their should be an option, in the the programs options and you should be able to alter it there.
