Starview 4 clone boxes, usefull for anything?

Hi,

I know when the starview 4 are unplugged they die or whatever, but can anything be done before or after to fix this problem or are they just useless once switched off?

I want to get a SV4, but want to get a genuine, but encase a clone comes wondering what can i do with it.
