    Hi,

I have a cloned starview, and it has stopped working. I have been advised that the software doesnt work on cloned boxes and have been advised to install a JTAG to fix it from http://www.tailor-madecircuits.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=31

HAs anyone tried this? will it fix my box or am I better buying a new one? Also once I have done this fix, will that fix it for good, or will I need to get new software to flash my box since it is a clone? is there software specifically for clone boxes?

There is no clone fix for the starview 4 usb box, as there is no tsop available for it.

your box will have to be sent back to the supplier for them to replace.

The jtag kit that is on that site is for the old clone starview 1 box, and will not work on the newer models, and the 8882 prob is also totally different from a dead box.

Damn. I contacted the supplier, warranty is void as soon as you put software on it apparently. Anything I can do to make this box work again? Supplier is adamant about the JTAG.

Sorry ot keep pestering you, though just wondering if there is anything I can do before I bin a box I only had for 2-3 months and buy a new one. (I assume a non-clone Starview 4 is ok, as I have noticed a lot of debate on here about a new encryption though not sure if that only applies to Ireland. [I am mainland UK based.])

If your box is dead, no mate there is no way to bring it back, as there is no way to jtag it back, as there was no tsop made.

Best bet is look for a good genuine supplier that dont sell clones

    google

Skywonder or Wizard Satellite both are genuine starview suppliers in the UK
