Hi there people im new to all this but im very confused with my starview box i have. It seems to have duplicated the channels about 3 or 4 times in my "ALL" list so only half of the channels work. Its so confusing going down the list to find a channel that actually works to watch. Also i created a favourite list of all of the ones that did work but now they dont :S and ive gone back on my "ALL" list and there are new channels that have duplicated again that now work and ones that did work that no longer how can i get them to work so i can have my box back. Im so confused with it all, its really doing my head in. Can anybody tell me what has happend and how to fix it?? Also what happens if you factory restore it?? As i do not have any software to put on it as i have not got a clue how the hell you do that either. Any help would be much appreciated as im pulling my hair out with it now. Many Thanks Sasha186 xxx
if your box is auto updating the codes by its self your firmware seems fine ,try a factory reset and it should sort your problem out . press menu ,go to factory setting and press ok on your remote ,you will be asked for your pin number (if you never used one type in 0000 this the default pin )your box is now back to default settings . now you need to install the box again ,this is easy just choose your language etc and do a scan on your tv channels provider .after a factory reset settings like clock / pin number and parental settings will need to be reset back to how you had them ,your pin number is now 0000 .
I think what happen to your box is a natural death currently affect most of SV user, there's nothing you can do, the change over to Nagra 3, for more info. read this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f...an_do_and_updated_with_n3_areas_in_uk-811964/
Will I still be able to view the channels i have on it now though? You see im so scared to factory reset it just incase it goes back to like a freeview box and what happens to the firmware because i dont have any firmware for it and i dont have a clue how you put it on the box either. I really dont know that much on these boxes. If i factory reset it will it still be able to pick up the cable channels and still have firmware on it?? Thanks for you info. Im so scared to do anything to it just in case i break it lol
if they are working now sasha i promise they will work after a factory reset . this just means you will set your box to its original settings like language /clock etc .if your box was auto updating all along your ok its just a reset and an auto scan. when you do a reset you will be asked for your pin number ,if you dont know the default is 0000 ,but failing all the master pin for starview 1 and 2 is 1668 and the master pin for starview 3 (super box) is 2007 . but that said these boxes will all stop working very soon so you need to look at other possible options ,so look at the links in my signature area.
So if i factory reset the box it will not need any firmware put back onto it for it to work? Im so scared to do it just incase i break it. But its really doing my head in now with all these duplicated channels. Also ive now lost some of my channels since i last posted in this thread how can i get them back? Ive lost all the sky movie channels and all of the children channels. Anyway i can get them back to?? Many Thanks
No you dont need firmware if your box has the current firmware and Pat told you already what to do, follow his instructions on resetting the box and rescanning to the letter above
as mickah and pat have stated, just factory default, and rescan like you initially did....failing that, make sure you have the latest stable firmware updates.. starview 3 super v8.04 starview 4 usb v1.12 starview 5 usb2 v2.03 thats all you can do for the time being
