Starview box problem

Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help me out with my starview box as i'm pulling my hair out at the moment : ) It was working fine for a few months since I got it on V2.55. Last week it froze while I was watching it. I switched it off and back on and it was fine for a few minutes then it froze again. Sometimes it won't even turn on properly and will get stuck on the fourth light in pre standby. Its definately a genuine box (checked vents, remote and the back of the box) I tried flashing it with V4.00 but it freezes before the flash is complete and the flash fails message comes up. I'm a complete newbie at this so I really don't have clue what went wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated

hey guys thanks for the replies. Its not the connections or anything like that I've double checked them. I've tried to follow the bad flash guide but the highest % it has got to is around 80% and the box then sort of scrambles, freezes, the display goes weird (both on the front of the box and on the tv) and the flash fails. The problem just randomly occured one night after having worked for months.

 

As you say it is a genuine box so I cannot blame the symptoms you say you have on it been a clone. If you have also followed the bad flash guide then I say your next logical step is to have it jtagged, (basically this involves re-writing to the bootloader). Even then I cannot say this will solve your problem as it could just be a hardware issue. Like any electrical product there could be a number of faults.

 

Well I reflashed it with V2.55 and that was ok so then I flashed V4.00 on it and that went on ok, but before I'd even rescanned the channels the same problems started again. It's staying on for around a minute then sort of resetting itself and freezing so that I have to switch it off at the back. I'm 99% sure its not a clone. I checked the vents, the remote and the back of the box and they were all genuine. Don't think i'd be able to do the Jtagging myself, looks like I'll have to get a new box. thanks for your help sc0user

Sorry Celt there is one but it is in developement. It was supposed to be out bit it has been delayed. But yes they are specifically designed to work with C***** MMDS.

Menu > Factory Setting
PIN 0000
OK to delete

Turn box off at the back for a minute and turn back on

English > Installation
Choose N*L etc
Automatic Scan
Press OK
Channels found
Exit

Menu 1570
Turn EMU key ON

Exit , exit , exit
